Adult ESL/LINC Instructors – Toronto Catholic District School Board

The Adult Education Program of the Toronto Catholic District School Board is seeking to increase its pool of language instructors. Approved candidates will be added to the supply list and will be eligible to apply for internal postings as they become available.

We offer a variety of programs including LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada), ESL (English as a Second Language), FSL (French as a Second Language) and LBS (Literacy and Basic Skills) full- and part-time during the day, in the evenings and on weekends at a number of locations within the city of Toronto. We cater to a diverse, multicultural and multi-faith community.

Qualifications:

  • University degree
  • TESL Ontario Accreditation (OCELT)
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English
  • Experience teaching or volunteering in a publicly funded LINC and/or ESL class
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks and ability to integrate the CLBs into lesson planning and delivery
  • Familiarity with the LINC and/or Adult ESL Curriculum Guidelines
  • Working knowledge of Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS office applications
  • Online teaching experience an asset
  • Experience using LINC and ESL software (Avenue) an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Other information:

Casual (supply) ESL instructors can work daytime, evenings and Saturdays at our locations across the city. All classes, online and face to face are delivered in person from the sites.

The hourly rate is $45.99. Includes vacation and stat holiday payouts.
