Summary:
This position reports to the Project Manager of Language Curriculum Training Services and supports the development, organization and delivery of PD sessions in French language to CLIC (Cours de langue pour les immigrants au Canada) and FSL (French as a Second Language) instructors and administrators.
This is a fully remote role working from home. The successful candidate must reside in Ontario.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Research, develop and adapt existing webinar workshop content in the French language that addresses current IRCC priorities and is relevant to CLIC and FSL instructors
- Organize and deliver French-language online professional development webinars to teachers directly
- Arrange and host French-language guest presenters for special topics (also delivering French-language online professional development webinars to teachers directly)
- Liaise with and provide training/resource support to CLIC and FSL coordinators and instructors
- Support information sharing on French-language resource materials, activities and successful teaching strategies appropriate for CLIC and FSL classrooms, by coordinating with the CCLB
- Liaise with and make appropriate recommendations concerning CLIC and FSL clients with special needs
- Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders and continuously enhance collaborative community partnerships
- Stay current on trends in the language training sector as they apply to CLIC and FSL programs, and develop training and resource support to reflect needs and changes
- Liaise with other providers of professional development for CLIC and FSL to avoid duplication
- Provide regular program updates to Project Manager
- Assist with preparation and submission of project related reports as per agreement
- Write promotional content for French webinars
- Develop a directory of organizations delivering CLIC/FSL across Ontario
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (French and English speaking)
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks, NLPPG and PBLA
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the adult ESL field, particularly in funded French-language training programs
- Minimum post-secondary degree in education or related field
- TESL Ontario accreditation
- Exceptional communicator with proven outstanding teaching and facilitation experience and skills
- Experience delivering webinars and using related technology (use of BigBlueButton an asset)
- Familiarity with the evolving language training sector and the varying needs of language training providers and instructors, specifically as they apply to CLIC and FSL programs
- Ability to stay current on trends in the language training sector, as they apply to CLIC and FSL programs, and develop training and resource support to reflect needs and changes
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong technology skills preferred – training will be provided
- Weekday daytime availability, for both general tasks and webinar preparation and delivery (keeping in mind that some guest presenters will require after-hours flexibility for their presentation times)
- Ability to work remotely in an online environment (including private space and high-speed internet)
