English language teacher

We are looking for a motivated, responsible, English-speaking candidate from Canada to join our English education program in Erdenet, Mongolia, for a 12-month placement. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain international teaching experience, immerse yourself in Mongolian culture, and make a meaningful impact on young learners. We welcome applications from qualified teachers, recent university graduates, and motivated gap-year students who have strong English skills and a genuine interest in education and cultural exchange.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver engaging basic English lessons, conversation activities, and speaking practice.
• Assist students with general English skills and optional test preparation (IELTS/SAT) where applicable.
• Collaborate effectively with local teaching staff and work independently on lesson preparation.
• Actively participate in cultural exchange activities, local community events, and program initiatives.

Qualifications:

Language Proficiency: Excellent spoken and written English skills.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in any field OR current status as a gap-year student.

Certifications: TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or another recognized English-teaching qualification is considered a strong advantage.

Experience: Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience or familiarity with IELTS and SAT English preparation is an advantage.

Personal Attributes: Enjoys working with children, teenagers, and young adults; comfortable living and working in Erdenet, Mongolia for one year; capable of working independently as well as part of a local teaching team.

Working Hours: Approximately 24–30 hours per week

Schedule: Weekends are generally free
