This is a Working Holiday Visa Program for Canadians who meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.
As an English Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Collaborate with Korean teachers to enhance English language education.
- Lead engaging lessons with a focus on conversational English.
- Act as a cultural ambassador, fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Positions are available throughout South Korea according to the needs of Provincial and Metropolitan Offices of Education.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As an English Teaching Assistant, your role will include, but is not limited to:
Collaborating with Korean co-teachers to plan and deliver engaging English lessons that align with curriculum standards.
Leading classroom activities focused on speaking and listening skills to help students develop confidence and fluency in English.
Designing and preparing supplementary teaching materials such as games, visual aids, and worksheets to enhance lesson plans.
Assisting with language-related extracurricular activities, such as English clubs, speech contests, or cultural exchange events.
Participating in school functions and events, including staff meetings, professional development workshops, and community celebrations.
Acting as a cultural ambassador, sharing aspects of Canadian culture and encouraging mutual cultural exchange.
Qualifications:
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of Canada.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of travel (required to obtain a work visa for South Korea).
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in an eligible country.
- Have completed education (from 7th grade through university) in English in an eligible country.
- Possess one of the following:
- A teaching license/certificate, B.Ed., M.Ed., or a degree in an education-related field; OR
- A TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate (minimum 100 hours) for non-education majors.
- Be in good mental and physical health and demonstrate adaptability to Korean culture.

Compensation and Benefits
Financial Benefits:
- Monthly Salary: Competitive based on qualifications and experience (from 2,100,000 to 3,000,000 KRW per month ≈ 2,000 to 3,000 CAD).
- Settlement Allowance: 300,000 KRW (one-time payment) ≈ 300 CAD.
- Entrance Allowance: 1,800,000 KRW (varies by location) ≈ 1,800 CAD.
- Contract Completion Bonus: Up to 1,800,000 KRW ≈ 1,800 CAD.
- Renewal Bonus: Up to 2,000,000 KRW for contract extensions ≈ 2,000 CAD.
Housing:
- Furnished accommodations provided (size and location vary by region).
- Utilities and maintenance costs are the teacher’s responsibility.
Healthcare:
- 50% of national medical insurance premiums covered by your employer.
