We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher to join our educational team at the Mississauga campus. The ESL teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality language instruction to non-native English speakers, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and helping students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver in person English lessons to a culturally diverse student population in beginner through high-advanced levels.

Duties include:

  • Design and implement engaging, effective, and differentiated lesson plans tailored to students’ needs and abilities.
  • Regularly assess student progress through tests, quizzes, and informal evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their language skills.
  • Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that promotes effective learning.
  • Foster a classroom culture that is culturally sensitive and inclusive, addressing the diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds of students.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies, materials, and activities to accommodate students’ diverse learning needs and language proficiency levels.
  • Work closely with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support the academic success of ESL students and ensure integration into the mainstream curriculum.
  • Offer additional support to students who may require extra help or encouragement. Provide individualized attention as needed to boost students’ confidence and motivation.
  • Plan and facilitate extracurricular language immersion activities that enhance students’ language development and cultural understanding.
  • Stay current with best practices in ESL teaching, attend relevant workshops and conferences, and continually strive to improve teaching methods and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Energetic, friendly, and passionate about teaching English
  • Certificate in TESL or equivalent from a TESL certified institution with a minimum of 100 hours methodology and 20 hours of practicum, OCELT preferred
  • Strong understanding of ESL principles, approaches, and techniques
  • Language level of IELTS 9 expected
  • Experience teaching adult students (16 years and over)
