Annual Conference Committee Members (3 positions)

Grow your personal learning networking (PLN) and expand your skill set by joining one of TESL Ontario’s committees or teams. These collaborative, innovative groups share knowledge and expertise and bring education and value to the TESL community.

The TESL Ontario Annual Conference Committee plans and organizes a multi-day, multi-faceted educational conference experience for individuals involved in the English Language training and adult ESL fields in Ontario. Members of this important committee represent the education and training needs of the TESL community in the design and development of TESL Ontario’s annual conference.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Posts are 3 years in length with a potential further 3-year term. Committee members are expected to attend online meetings (6-8 per year). Committee members will work alongside the TESL Ontario Conference Coordinator to provide input and direction to assist the association with identifying meaningful topics, speakers, and conference elements for this annual event. Committee members will sit on at least one sub-committee in the conference-planning process. Committee members can anticipate a digital communication-based workload of 2-4 hours per month, increasing slightly in the month preceding the conference.

Qualifications:

  • Current TESL Ontario member
  • Broad understanding of the English language training landscape and issues affecting the TESL community in Ontario and across Canada
  • Experience with planning and executing professional development events or past committee participation considered a strong asset
  • Willingness to share unique perspectives, and contribute to open discussion about potential topics, themes and speakers
  • Demonstrated commitment to the field of English language training
