Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Members (1-2 positions)

To reflect the diversity of its membership and the wider TESL community, TESL Ontario instituted a DEI-specific committee to represent the needs of English language educators and learners across the sector.
The mandate of this committee includes:
- To support the TESL Ontario community in all facets to establish and maintain guiding principles that reflect our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
- To educate, inform and raise awareness about best practices on issues affecting equity-seeking groups
- To create a safe space for the TESL Community both within the association and beyond
- To provide consultation and guidance for concerns or complaints related to racism, discrimination and DEI
Duties & Responsibilities:
Posts are 2 years in length with a potential further 2-year term. Committee members are expected to attend online meetings (5-8 per year). They will assist the committee chair with projects in support of the committee’s vision, mission and strategic goals. Committee members can anticipate a digital communication-based workload of 3-5 hours per month.
Qualifications:
- Current TESL Ontario member
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Some experience or education in diversity, equity and inclusion
- Strong teamwork, networking and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Highly-motivated and enthusiastic
