TESL Ontario is seeking 2–3 engaged and enthusiastic members to join our Research Advisory Committee. This is a valuable opportunity to help shape the direction of research within Ontario’s English language training sector and to support the growth of our professional community.

MANDATE
The mandate of the Research Advisory Committee is to support and encourage research and scholarship at all levels of the TESL Ontario association and community of practice, within a broad framework of theoretical and methodological diversity and inclusive, equitable and ethical research practice.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Time Commitment:

  • Two-year term (with the possibility of renewal for an additional two years)
  • Attend approximately 4 virtual meetings per year
  • Commit 2–4 hours per month to committee activities
  • Provide input and guidance on meaningful research directions and activities
  • Contribute to committee initiatives, including planning the annual Research Symposium and Research Workshop

Qualifications:

  • Current TESL Ontario member
  • Graduate degree (PhD an asset)
  • Broad understanding of the English language training landscape, including current challenges and issues affecting the TESL community in Ontario and across Canada
  • Experience planning, conducting, and/or evaluating research in the language training field
  • Commitment to inclusive and ethical research practices
  • Willingness to share unique perspectives and engage in open discussion
