Volunteer Position: Volunteer – Homework Club Tutor

Job Classification: Volunteer

Location: Virtual

Terms: 1.5 hours per week; minimum commitment of 3 months
Mondays 3:30pm – 5:00pm

Scope

Responsible for providing assistance to the Homework Club participants.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to Homework Club participants
  • Use different techniques to help participants understand and complete their homework
  • Arrange reinforcing materials that help participants strengthen their skills in Math, English, Science, French, and other subjects as needed
  • Be aware of cultural differences and ensure that the rights of all participants are respected
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to explain the material to the participants
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues facing young children
  • Punctual and responsible
  • Proficiency using Zoom
  • Ability to communicate in both Mandarin and English

Other requirements

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
